Occlusion Field
A caption placement instrument that makes interface occlusion visible before a short-form edit is exported.
The problem
Short-form video editors often place burned-in captions while the composition is clean, then discover at publish time that navigation, reaction, or reply controls obscure the words. Occlusion Field turns that late check into a direct operating step: choose one generic frame profile, drag or keyboard-nudge the caption across marked exclusion zones, read which zone has the largest overlap, and copy normalized coordinates for handoff. The profiles are planning guides rather than claims about any named platform, and the interface asks editors to verify against the current publishing UI. Caption copy and geometry remain in ephemeral browser state; there is no media upload, account, persistence, paid API, tracking SDK, outbound email, advertising, payment, or destructive operation. Production deployment dpl_GXmRHGxWpCyZe21t69uZYhiuMTNH reached READY before independent Foundry HTTPS marker and four-step behavior checks passed at the stable alias.
Architecture
Key decisions
Make occlusion the canvas, not a warning
The frame exposes every planning zone while one tested rectangle controls caption, crosshair, collision treatment, readout, and copied receipt.
Use generic profiles and explicit limits
No proprietary interface is cloned and no current platform dimension is asserted. Profiles describe common chrome postures and are labeled as guidance.
Keep manipulation accessible
The caption supports pointer dragging and arrow-key nudging with a larger Shift step, visible focus, and numeric evidence that does not depend on color.
Choose an editorial field instrument
Newsprint neutrals, condensed utility type, Georgia display type, ruled geometry, oxide hatching, and one acid control avoid generic cards, glass, and tech gradients.
